Lox Box Barbers

My name is Joanna Orgee I’m 43 year’s old. I live in a small town called Prestatyn, North Wales and I have been a barber for over 20 years. I first trained as a hairdresser and when I was training in college, I found that I really excelled in cutting and colouring hair. I also did a barber course in my second year of college and that was the start of me realising I quite liked cutting men’s hair.

I worked for a couple of years in hairdressing. Then an opportunity came up, to work at a friend of a friend’s barber’s. I worked for her for 19 years and have seen a lot of changes in barbering and hairstyles over the years. More so, some that are coming back into fashion. From there, she then approached me to see if I would like to buy the business from her. I did so in April 2019 and within those few weeks a new owner of the whole street took over the building. I was then able to move my business next door into a larger place where I was able to design what I wanted in my new shop.

That happened in June of that year, the business has grown from strength to strength. I’ve always liked learning, I think knowledge is key to anything you do in life, that’s why I’m always watching other barbers who inspire me like Hayden Cassidy, Sophie Pok, Josh Lamonaca, Sid Sitting to name a few, but most recently I have been doing a year-long online course.

Training course with Josh O’ Meara-Patel has been a great way of keeping me focused when the shop has been shut due to Covid. Finding new ways and skills to cutting hair. Moving forward, I hope things carry on improving for me and everyone in the business.
